Dissociative Identity Disorder

A dissociative disorder involving disruption of identity characterized by two or more distinct personality states, along with recurrent gaps in memory and significant distress or functional impairment.

Prevalence: Estimated around 1% in the general population; higher rates in specialized clinical settings.
